As a grassroots, regional network, EAYA seeks to connect as well as involve itself in six major areas. Hence EAYA brings together organisations and groups interested in youth in the same areas. These are as follows.

Economic development. These include poverty eradiation, unemployment and female empowerment.

Education. Combating illiteracy, greed and racism in our communities

Environment. Preventing the destruction of flora and fauna in the physical environment
as well as the desecration of our social environs and the violation of the several sacred spiritual environments.

Human rights. Protecting fundamental human rights and fighting against their violation. Among the areas EAYA has keen interest is Burundi, Rwanda, Somali and Ethiopia.

Leadership. Creating a new paradigm of leadership and management of society in the next century and fostering the development of young people to assume leadership roles in the society.

Transforming East Africa. Trying to solve the problems of East Africa with respect to disease, war, famine and corruption. Try to renew the image from the dark continent to that of beauty, culture, development and progress.
